D&AD New Blood Shots HarperCollins Narnia Design Brief

This is my creative idea as a response to a brief set by C.S. Lewis Company, as part of the D&AD New Blood Shots competition:

The Design Challenge:
"For 70 years C.S. Lewis’ ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ series has captured the imagination of children and young adults. The seven core books, published by HarperCollins, tell of the adventures of various children in the fictional realm of Narnia, home to mythical beasts and talking animals.
Successful radio, TV, and film series have continued to re-establish Narnia for multiple generations. Now HarperCollins, with the support of The C.S. Lewis Company, want to reignite the spark, and bring these enduring tales to new audiences, with a new generation through a fresh brand identity."

My Response:
In order to allow future generations to experience the magical discoveries of the Narnia book series, it was necessary to create this new visual identity that combines aspects of the classic iterations of the books whilst giving a new, modern, fresh perspective on the series.

This new visual identity contains subtle details that pull the viewer in and ultimately connect them into the mystical world that is Narnia, whether they be older, loyal fans or new, young readers hungry for a new world to dive right in to.
